Ever use someone else to get your message out? For example, big, multi-location companies sometimes make important announcements through local plant or office managers, rather than at head office. Another example: advocacy groups that ask their members to individually write or call politicians. |

I don’t know the first thing about professional design. You say your MBA program didn’t include training to work with creative professionals? Perhaps your degree is from the Seat-of-the-Pants School, and didn’t include experience in outsourcing creative work. Don’t know what a designer actually does? Don’t even know where to find one? Relax. You’re not alone. Few executives are trained to make these kinds of decisions or to work effectively with creative professionals. This puts them at a distinct disadvantage when hiring creative consultants. |

When chatting with friends I was recently reminded how important it is to be sure that we remember to be effective in our efforts to communicate. It is so easy to assume that others know what you know and spout off thinking they are on the same wavelength. |
